Just because you are on a budget, doesn't mean that you have to just eat Ramen all the time. This sandwich takes a bit of a twist to the classic ham and cheese sandwich. Of course you can use whatever type of bread, cream cheese and deli meats you like.
2 Slices Great Value Wheat Bread ($0.88 a loaf @Walmart)
1 Pack Buddig Meat 2oz ($0.56 @Walmart)
Great Value Mayo ($2.28 for 18 oz jar @Walmart)
Great Value Cream Cheese ($0.80 for 8oz @Walmart)
Take cream cheese out and let sit for a bit to get to room temp so its easier to spread. (You can also put it in a bowl and add any seasonings you like to it and mix it up). You may have to put butter or some kind of nonstick spray on your skillet if you don't have a nonstick skillet. Turn on the stove to low heat (1 or 2 if you have numbers on the dial). Spread mayo on one side of the bread and lay on a plate. Spread cream cheese evenly on the bread, lay the meat you want on top of that and spread more cream cheese evenly on the unbuttered bread. Lay that on the meat cream cheese side down and butter the top of that. Carefully put the sandwich in the preheated skillet and cook that until its golden brown and/or the cheese is melted. If the bread starts to burn, turn the heat a little lower. Flip over and cook that side to a golden brown as well. Plate it and enjoy. (The cream cheese will be extremely hot, so please cool accordingly.)
Prices may vary depending on where you shop or live. The total price for the ingredients is $4.52 plus tax. This is a very quick and easy dinner or lunch option where you can mix it up as much as you want with different cheeses and meats. I you do not like the mayo, feel free to use butter on the bread. I use mayo because it gives the bread a nice brown and crunch and doesn't stick to the skillet like butter does.
